Greystone Preserve
March 24, 2018 @ 10:30 am - 4:30 pm
Greystone Preserve
Aiken County
Regional Director: Katherine Boyle
On Saturday, March 24, we will meet at 10:30 AM at the Greystone Preserve, a Central Savannah River Land Trust property in western Aiken County. The preserve encompasses 262 acres of small creeks and deep valleys in a varied landscape that encapsulates the diversity of the western midlands region. See trail map –

Most of the preserve is covered in mature hardwood forest. Meandering through the forest are several granite-strewn creeks, all of which feed the Savannah River, less than a 1/4 mile downstream. Along the creeks and in surrounding low woods, we’ll find the federally endangered the Relict Trillium (Trillium reliquum). See excellent photos and line drawings of the plant —
